You will be responsible for managing financial operations, including invoicing, month-end closings, annual audit, accounts payable management, accounts receivable management, and oversight of an outsourced bookkeeping team. Given the considerable growth year-to-date, driven in equal parts by M&A and new client wins, we are looking for an experienced Accountant to take ownership of financial and management reporting; and working capital management.
The ideal candidate will be a UK/EU based CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified and have experience in a finance function in a fast-growing company. Reporting into the FC, this is a heavily hands-on role which will have a strong impact on strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, month-end closing, and reporting activities.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Manage the accounts payable process, including processing vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and timely payment of invoices.
- Manage the accounts receivable process, including invoicing customers, tracking payments, and following up on overdue payments.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Provide oversight of an outsourced bookkeeping team, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
- Prepare and file VAT returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize financial operations and reporting.
Requirements :
- ACCA qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and finance roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting software and tools.
- Experience managing month-end closing and financial reporting processes.
- Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with principles of accrual accounting and US GAAP. SaaS experience is a plus (software revenue recognition, deferred revenue liability etc.)
- Very strong financial modeling / Excel skills
- Familiarity with accounting / payment software such as Stripe and Quickbooks
- Ability to multitask at speed, without sacrificing attention to detail
- An articulate problem solver who thinks commercially is able to break down complex problems into manageable tasks and bring it all together to articulate the findings
- 60-80% remote is OK but needs to be based in the UK time zone +/-1 hour and be comfortable with occasional calls on the US time zone
