Marketing Designer, Advertising and Creative Operations
Job Description
Random House is seeking a Designer to join our Advertising and Creative Operations department. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment. The designer will be responsible for producing digital content to support marketing efforts across web, social, and email platforms, as well as designing and producing print and promotional items with a focus on the division’s Random House and Ballantine Bantam Dell imprints. This is an amazing opportunity to join an innovative integrated department and work with the renowned titles published by Random House. This is NOT a cover design position.

The Role:
- Conceptualize and design digital materials for our books across all imprints, including but not limited to, Amazon A+, back of book ads, social media images, display ads, website assets, email creative, and book club kits, along with point-of-purchase displays, postcards, bookmarks, and other print collateral
- Have a strong interest in working on a wide variety of high-quality fiction and nonfiction books
- Work closely with the Art Directors and Marketers to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work to internal departments
- Manage projects through our project management / design request software: correspond on project threads as needed, traffick creative, plus prepare and release files to stakeholders
- Remain current on art, design, and publishing trends
The Essentials:
- Minimum of 3-5+ years experience as a staff designer, preferably in advertising
- A passion for design and typography—as demonstrated by your portfolio
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator—and the interest and ability to learn new systems and applications
- Strong typography skills and knowledge of typesetting
- Experience with preparing files for print: digital and offset
- Proficient time management and project management skills: Timely follow-up skills with the marketing teams and other stakeholders, and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced, detail-focused, and deadline-driven environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across email, direct messaging, and in meetings
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with the team when needed
- A goal-oriented team player who can cultivate productive working relationships
- Proficiency in creative problem solving, decision making, and time management
- Proficiency using social media platforms as a marketing tool
- Nice to have: Knowledge of animation and video editing (Adobe After Effects and Premiere), and/or experience in product photography
