Overview
Tanaq Management Services (TMS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in the health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TMS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.
About The Role
We are seeking a Front End Developer to conduct polio lab front end development activities in support of several projects being undertaken at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Responsibilities
- Migrate current on-premises applications to cloud-based solutions.
- Perform operational administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and document progress.
- Collaborate with current teams (e.g., HPC and security teams), developers, and bioinformaticians.
- Work collaboratively within the development team to implement web elements that are visible to computer users within the PASS web application.
- Combine the art of design with the science of programming.
- Be responsible for the translation of UI/UX design wireframes to actual code.
- Contribute web-programming skills to further improve system interfaces and user experiences.
- Assist with fixing bugs.
- Work independently to meet tight deadlines following design/implementation guidelines.
Requirements
Required Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated skills with hands-on experience in cloud software development. Must be able to provide an example of a cloud application and Application Programming Interface (API).
- Experience with Python, C++, YAML, Kubernetes, JavaScript and JSON, Bash, and Amazon LightSail with MERN or with similar programming tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and effectively communicate across the organization.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: HTML, CCS, JavaScript or related language.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
- Experience with AWS and GCP as platforms, ChatGPT, Bard, NextFlow a plus.
- Preferred experience with bioinformatics tools (GitHub/gitlab, Jupiter notebook, blast, mapper and assembler), database access, HPC accounts for development.
- Ability to obtain government clearance.
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, Computer Science, or similar degree.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
