The Role

AssemblyAI is growing quickly, and we're searching for a Director of Content Marketing to drive the vision and execute growth in our organic traffic both on our blog and across our website. This role would report directly to our VP of Developer Relations and Growth Marketing in the Marketing department.

In this role you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Drive growth in our organic search traffic metrics and lifecycle events such as signups and "talk to sales" hand-raisers.
  • Define and execute our content marketing approach, first by working hands on, then by building a team of vendors, freelancers and FTEs who can follow a replicable pattern for organic traffic growth across our website.
  • Analyze and monitor content effectiveness and hold each piece we publish to high standards for clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Build an external team of vendors/freelancers to develop a comprehensive editorial calendar and overall content strategy designed to boost awareness, traffic, and engagement.
  • Work closely with the Developer Relations team to ensure we capitalize on high intent keyword search traffic where possible, and maintain consistent high standards for content output across Marketing.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise with search engine optimization (SEO) and proven experience mapping SEO initiatives to company growth imperatives
  • Significant experience executing content marketing to drive organic search traffic, and managing content marketing programs as we invest in this go-to market approach
  • The ability to articulate the why behind your content creation, not just the how
  • A strong point of view when it comes to content creation
  • Copyediting experience with best-in-class standards for editorial quality. In addition, you bring an immaculate attention to detail in writing style
  • An aptitude for explaining technical topics in a digestible way
  • Knowledge of tools that can measure results, such as Google Analytics and PostHog, and the ability to provide context behind our results and communicate them to colleagues. The specific tools you've previously used are less important than knowing what to measure and why
  • Prior experience at technical companies, particularly ones with API as a primary product with a usage-based business model

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical topics in a simple way
  • You are a self-starter, well organized, creative, results-oriented, quality minded and a team-first player
  • Great relationship builder
  • Strong written & verbal communication, research, and presentation skills
